Exploring Primary Care Attachment in the BAOHT: Student Researchers Present at AFHTO

A group of student researchers recently showcased their innovative work at the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario (AFHTO) Conference, focusing on primary care attachment within the Barrie and Area Ontario Health Team (BAOHT). Their project featured an interactive data platform that maps where patients (both attached and unattached) are accessing care across the region.

The students’ findings highlighted areas with the greatest need for primary care attachment and proposed new ways to redistribute patients among providers to improve access. Their work is a powerful example of how innovative thinking and collaboration can spark positive change in our health system.

Integrated Care Action Summit 2025

For the first time, all 58 Ontario Health Teams, Primary Care Networks, Patient and Family Advisory Councils, and their partners will gather in one place to chart the future of integrated health care.

Join colleagues at the Integrated Care Action Summit on November 24 and 25 in person at the Westin Toronto Airport.

While policy sets the direction, true health care innovation grows at the front lines, where care is delivered and relationships are built. Ontario Health Teams are part of these conversations, and this summit brings stories and workshops together to spark collaboration and strengthen integration across Ontario’s health care.

From primary care to acute care, this is your chance to help shape a more connected, equitable, and patient-centred future.
