Stay informed and connected with us! Committed to supporting patients, families, caregivers, and health partners, we provide the latest insights, resources, and community highlights.

Welcome New Partners!

The Barrie and Area Ontario Health Team (BAOHT) is excited to continue growing our network of partners dedicated to improving health care coordination in our region. Recently, we welcomed several organizations who are already beginning to share their expertise and perspectives across BAOHT projects and working groups.

Each new partner has participated in an orientation session to learn more about the BAOHT and to connect with our Operations Team. Their involvement will help strengthen initiatives that support the health and wellbeing of our communities. We’re grateful for their commitment and look forward to what we can achieve together.

Welcome to the following organizations:

  • Deaf Access Simcoe Muskoka
  • Empower Simcoe
  • NSM Hospice Palliative Care Network
  • ParaMed
  • Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada

Recognizing the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Tuesday, September 30, 2025 marks the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation where we honor residential school survivors, their families and the children who never returned home. While this day is an opportunity to reflect, learn and remember, reconciliation is not just about one day, it’s an ongoing journey that calls on us to deepen our understanding of Indigenous histories and experiences throughout the year while committing to ongoing reconciliation.

To mark this important day, we wanted to highlight some community events taking place next month. We invite everyone to participate, listen and walk this path of healing and understanding together.

Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin, the Barrie Native Friendship Centre, the City of Barrie, and the Barrie Public Library are hosting events at the Spirit Catcher on Lakeshore Drive:

  • Sunrise Ceremony
  • Sacred Fire (until 1 p.m.)
  • Guest Speakers (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
  • Memorial Walk (12 p.m.)

All activities are open to the public. Please wear orange if you can.  Learn more:  Truth & Reconciliation Event – in Barrie ~ Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin

The Canadian Nurses Association is also hosting its first Anti-Indigenous Racism Knowledge Sharing Event on September 29, 2025 from 12:00-4:00pm. This virtual event will bring together health-care professionals, policy-makers and community leaders to share knowledge, experiences and strategies to create a more equitable and culturally safe health-care environment. Registration will open to the public September 2, 2025. Space is limited: Anti-Indigenous Racism Knowledge Sharing Event 2025 – Canadian Nurses Association For more resources and learning opportunities, visit the Provider Resource page on the BAOHT website.
