Barrie and Area OHT join partners to Spring into Wellness!

Members of the Patient Family Caregiver Advisors and Operations Team from the Barrie and Area Ontario Health Team participated in Victoria Village’s Spring into Wellness Fair on March 12. This event provided an excellent platform to interact with our community and local partners. Throughout the day, we encouraged attendees to provide insights and share their top three suggestions for enhancing the health care system in our region. The event also offered the opportunity to inform participants about our Patient Family Caregiver Advisory Council and the Good Foot Forward program.

Can’t get a timely appointment with your family doctor or don’t have one? The Central Region Virtual Urgent Care Clinic may be for you

Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team (EYRND OHT) has partnered with Oak Valley Health and Ontario Health to open the Central Region Virtual Urgent Care Clinic (VUCC). Launched in July 2023, the VUCC has served the communities of Mississauga to Huntsville and Orangeville to Markham.

The VUCC operates after hours and is available for those who require timely access to care for urgent, non-life-threatening conditions that can be addressed virtually. This nurse practitioner-led clinic operates daily from 1 to 9 p.m. and is integrated with the services offered by EYRND OHT, its partners, and its regional partners. The VUCC is accessible to all residents within the Central Region.

Help spread the word about this clinic to your patients and families! Reach out to for access to the social media package.

Unity Gathering – Wholistic and Integrated Care

Members of the BAOHT Operations Team joined senior leadership from Ontario Health, the Ministry of Health, and other Ontario Health Teams to engage with Indigenous Primary Health Care Organizations (IPHCOs) and gain insights into managing chronic diseases within primary care settings for Indigenous peoples, families, and communities. The gathering helped cultivate a deeper understanding, from an Indigenous perspective, of the challenges faced within our system of care while demonstrating the importance of wholistic health and well-being.

Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin’s Emily Lessard, RN, and Kristin Monague, Indigenous Health System Transformation Specialist, were invited to share their experiences working with local OHTs on the implementation of new clinical pathways, including the BAOHT’s Lower Limb Preservation strategy and Good Foot Forward program.
