Putting our Good Foot Forward – New foot care program launches

Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin, Gilbert Centre and Barrie and Area OHT partners successfully launched a new program offering foot care to people who are without access to foot care services and meet the eligibility criteria.

The Good Foot Forward program is intended to fill a gap in foot care services for equity-deserving populations including those without extended health benefits or the ability to pay privately for services. Foot care is key for people with Diabetes or Peripheral Arterial Disease for prevention of further complications leading to lower-limb amputations.

Ontario Health (OH) meets with Barrie and Area OHT Partners

Community partners, physicians and patient advisors of the BAOHT had the opportunity to highlight the strong collaboration, leadership and project success during a visit with Matt Anderson, President and CEO, OH, and Susan deRyk, Chief Regional Officer, Central and West Regions, OH.

The visit included a walk-through of the Lower-Limb Preservation (LLP) Project where working group members shared the significant impact of community foot care clinics for patients living with diabetes and peripheral arterial disease without access to proper foot care.

The seamless collaboration during the planning stages between community partners played a pivotal role in the success of this event; thank you to all involved.
